0:00, 2nd quarter: What a stand.
Keesean Johnson was ruled down at the 1-yard line, so the Cardinals ran the clock all the way down to two seconds so they could make the last play of the half. But Kenyan Drake was stopped at the goal line by the Patriots’ defensive line, and the Cardinals’ 15-play drive comes away with nothing.
The play was reviewed for several minutes, but there was not enough evidence to overturn the call on the field, which was no touchdown. That’s a huge boost for the Patriots, who go into halftime down just three.
6:18, 2nd quarter: Kyler Murray is really good, and it’s because he can make plays like this, backing up in the pocket and throwing it off two feet to find Dan Arnold for 17 yards on third down.
How many QBs can make this throw?

6:57, 2nd quarter: The Patriots can’t build on their momentum, as Cam Newton gets sacked to end their drive. There was good coverage downfield by the Cardinals secondary, but Newton needed to find a way to get the ball away.
Another great punt by Jake Bailey, who boots it 59 yards to the Arizona 21.
10:09, 2nd quarter: Jonathan Jones nearly had another interception, but Kyler Murray’s throw was broken up by Chase Edmonds. Either way, the Patriots get another defensive stop and force the Cardinals to punt. They take over at their own 14, with a chance to tie or take the lead.
14:15, 2nd quarter: The Patriots are suddenly right back in it.
Gunner Olszewski was stopped on third and short, but the Patriots went for it on fourth-and-2 and were rewarded for it. Cam Newton pitched it to James White, who not only got the first down but plowed into the end zone for the touchdown. It’s 10-7 Cardinals early in the second.
0:00, 1st quarter: Jakobi Meyers with a tough 13-yard completion, and the Patriots get more yardage on a lowering the head penalty. The Patriots have a third and short inside the Cardinals’ 10 to start the second quarter.
N’Keal Harry had a forgettable first quarter. He was whistled for a holding penalty just before dropping a pass for Cam Newton.
After a holding penalty and an incompletion on the last 3 plays, N’Keal Harry gets pulled for Donte Moncrief.

1:38, 1st quarter: Donte Moncrief has apparently replaced Gunner Olszewski as the Patriots’ kick returner today and he’s taking full advantage. His 55-yard return provides a big spark for the Patriots, who start at the Arizona 46.
1:49, 1st quarter: The Patriots defense didn’t break, forcing Kyler Murray into a pair of incompletions to end the Cardinals’ promising drive. Zane Gonzalez’s 47-yard field goal is good to give the visitors a 10-0 lead.
4:56, 1st quarter: The Patriots aren’t doing themselves any favors on either side of the ball so far, and it’s turning into mental mistakes, too. The Pats were flagged for an inexcusable too many men penalty before Kyler Murray found top target DeAndre Hopkins for 16 yards. The Cardinals are moving.
7:25, 1st quarter: Faced with third-and-16, Damiere Byrd took a screen pass for 17 yards — fueled by good blocking from Jakobi Meyers and Mike Onenwu — but the Patriots can’t build on it, and they’re forced to punt.
Jake Bailey’s punt is a good one, though. His 50-yard boot will pin the Cardinals to their own 3-yard line to start their drive.
Bad Cam is back in a big way today.
He’s 1/4 for 17 yards (on a screen), an INT and 1 sack through 2 drives

12:09, 1st quarter: The Cardinals take full advantage of Cam Newton’s pick. Former UMass star Andy Isabella’s 19-yard sweep put the Cards in prime position, and two plays later, Kenyan Drake punched it in from a yard out.
Arizona takes an early 7-0 lead, and the Pats are already playing catch-up.
13:38, 1st quarter: Well, that’s not how you want to start an absolute must-win game if you’re the Patriots.
Facing third-and-6 on their first set of downs, the Cardinals all-out blitzed Cam Newton, who was hit on the throw and was intercepted by Markus Golden. Arizona takes over deep in Patriots territory.
Pregame: It’s a rare sight.
Today, the Patriots are home underdogs in late November, heading into a 1-point, uphill climb against the Cardinals. The good news?
They’re in good health.
Stephon Gilmore is active for the second straight week despite a new hand injury and is expected to shadow All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins and Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray will play after being limited during a short week of practice. Pats safety Kyle Dugger is also active, potentially as a key piece of the team’s defensive game plan to corral the dynamic Murray.
Offensively, rookie offensive tackle Justin Herron was activated off injured reserve Saturday to help offset the loss of starting left tackle Isaiah Wynn. Wide receiver Donte Moncrief and defensive tackle Akeem Spence were also elevated off the practice squad. Spece is expected to help replace the injured Byron Cowart, who is the lone player of note among the Patriots’ inactives.
Both teams’ complete inactives lists are below.
DT Byron Cowart
DE Tashawn Bower
WR Isaiah Ford
RB J.J. Taylor
QB Brian Hoyer
S Jalen Thompson
RB Eno Benjamin
OL Joshua Miles
OL Justin Murray
QB Brett Hundley
