Coronavirus Saturday update: 45 new MN deaths, 9,040 new cases over two days

In Minnesota, 45 people died of COVID-19 over the Thanksgiving holiday.
The figures for the Minnesota Department of Health report include data from Thursday and Friday, so the numbers may appear greater than normal.
The deaths included 12 individuals in their 90s, 20 in their 80s, eight in their 70s and five in their 60s. Twenty-three were from long-term care or assisted-living facilities. In total, the state’s death count reached 3,521.
Ramsey County had the most deaths with nine. Hennepin County had six. Kandiyohi, Morrison, Otter Tail, Renville, Washington and Stearns counties had two. 18 other counties had one.
The state reported another 9,040 confirmed infections, increasing Minnesota’s total number of cases to 304,023. The actual number of cases is likely much higher as the data only represents those who have been tested for the virus, state officials say. Of the cumulative deaths in Minnesota, 68 percent have been in long-term care facilities.
A total of 16,423 — or about 5 percent —  of the overall total of those who tested positive have had to be hospitalized.
Overall, there have been 4,121,906 completed tests in the state.
