Saturday coronavirus update: 43 new MN deaths, 2,489 new cases

The death toll in Minnesota from COVID-19 is up to 5,663 with 43 additional deaths reported Saturday, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.
The Health Department reported another 2,489 confirmed coronavirus infections, taking Minnesota’s total cases to 434,413. The actual number of infections likely is much higher as the data only represents those who have been tested for the virus, state officials say. The total number tested for the virus as of Saturday was 3,067,884
Saturday’s reported deaths included individuals ranging in age from 45-49-years-old (2) to an individual 100 years or older. Twenty-one of the 43 were from a long-term care or assisted-living facility.
Of the state’s 5,663 total deaths, 3,626 were long-term care or assisted living center residents.
HOW ARE PATIENTS DOING?
There were 412,546 patients as of Saturday who have recovered to the point where they no longer need to be isolated.
A total of 22,699 patients with COVID-19 have been hospitalized in Minnesota, with 4,762 of those having had to be admitted into the ICU.
WHO IS GETTING SICK?
Number of health care workers with COVID-19: 33,805.
The age group with the most infections remains 20-24-year-olds with 43,914 cases, closing followed by 25-29-year-olds with 39,156 cases.
The age group with the most deaths are 85-89-year-olds with 1,067 deaths, closely followed by 80-84-year-olds with 931 deaths.Related Articles
