Raiders’ Josh Jacobs calls out Twitter trolls, then deletes message

Josh Jacobs’ online battle with fantasy football owners resumed this week after the Raiders’ stunning loss to the Miami Dolphins.
The Pro Bowl running back had a clear path to the endzone late in the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s game, but purposely stopped short of the goal line. Trailing 23-22 at the time, Raiders coach Jon Gruden wanted to run clock and kick a field goal.
The strategy backfired when the Raiders, after kicking the field goal to go ahead 25-23 with 19 seconds remaining, allowed a 34-yard pass play coupled with a 15-yard penalty that put Miami in field goal position.
After the 26-25 loss, Jacobs faced an avalanche of criticism on Twitter.
Replying to an angry tweet telling him “SCORE THE TOUCHDOWN,” Jacobs posted a separate tweet that read, “On your job do you do what your boss tells you to do? And if you don’t what happens? Interesting.”
Jacobs deleted the Tweet shortly thereafter.
Gruden was adamant his instructions for Jacobs not to score was the right thing to do. And there was plenty of history suggesting it was the correct call.
Over the past 20 years, teams that started a drive inside their 25 while trailing by 1-3 points with 20 seconds or less left in the game had been 0-120 before Miami’s miracle finish.

But, that’s not what the fantasy football owners and Jacobs’ other detractors wanted to hear.
It was the second time in the past two weeks that Jacobs was involved in a social media controversy with fantasy football players. He trolled the fantasy crowd two weeks ago by announcing via Instagram he would not be playing against the Colts.
