Worcester police arrest 4 teens accused of throwing bricks at cars, severely injuring man

Four teenagers went on a crime spree in Worcester on Saturday, throwing bricks at more than a dozen vehicles and seriously injuring a driver, according to police.
Worcester Police arrested the two 15-year-olds and two 16-year-olds, and they’re facing several charges, including: throwing missiles at a train or bus, mayhem, aggravated assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon (brick), assault with a dangerous weapon (brick), and malicious damage to a motor vehicle.
A 37-year-old man was struck in the face by one of the bricks, and was transported to the hospital with severe injuries. A total of 19 vehicles were struck by bricks and damaged, police said.
Officers at around 3:50 p.m. on Saturday responded to Plantation Street for a report of an assault with a brick.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 37-year-old man who was severely injured when he was driving eastbound on Plantation Street. As he passed a red SUV, someone threw a brick at his vehicle, he told police.
The brick went through his windshield, struck him in the face, and caused very serious, permanent injuries. The man was transported to an area hospital.
Officers then learned that the suspect vehicle was a stolen red SUV. Police also were receiving other reports of people in a red SUV throwing bricks at vehicles.
An officer then spotted the red SUV near Harrington Way, and began to follow it. The suspect vehicle sped up, and the officer followed the vehicle to the area of Ashwood Street, where the vehicle stopped.
Two male teens fled on foot, and two female teens stayed in the car. Officers pursued the two males, and took them into custody in the area of Houghton Street.

One of the male suspects is 15 years old, and the other is 16 years old. One of the female suspects is 15 years old, and the other is 16 years old.
In addition to the charges for all four teens, the 16-year-old male has been charged with unlawful carrying of a dangerous weapon (brass knuckles) and carrying a dangerous weapon when arrested.
